The August Wilson Theatre is a historic Broadway venue in New York City, originally opened in 1925 when President Calvin Coolidge remotely turned on its lights from the White House. After renovations in the 1980s and 1990s, it was renamed the Virginia Theatre before being dedicated in 2005 to playwright August Wilson the first Broadway theatre named after a Black playwright.
