The K-12 School Safety Grant Program, administered by the Ohio Department of Education, is a state grant program that provides dedicated funding for school safety and security improvements in Ohio. Eligible uses of K-12 School Safety Grant Program funding include chp: hire/rehire law enforcement for community policing and crime prevention, svpp: law enforcement coordination, training, metal detectors, locks, lighting, emergency notification technology, anonymous reporting systems, threat assessment, mental health crisis training, school bus safety: repair, replace, or add safety features; enhancements for new bus purchases, safe routes to school: infrastructure within 2 miles of schools; education, encouragement, enforcement, evaluation activities, sssg: equipment to improve facility safety and reduce injuries/illnesses, and ag school safety: sro training, active-shooter equipment, educational resources, mental health training, safety equipment, camera systems, panic alarms, gunshot detection, license plate readers, alert systems. Additional allowable expenditures may also include drive to succeed: driver training scholarships (ages 18-20).
Eligible applicants for the K-12 School Safety Grant Program include cops hiring program: state/local entities (must comply with 8 u.s.c. §1373), svpp: state/local entities (must comply with 8 u.s.c. §1373), safe routes to school: projects within 2 miles of k-12 schools, and sssg: ohio employers operating licensed pre-k-12 facilities.
